Makeup Colors For Blue Eyes by Mary Melrose
When thinking about buying makeup for blue eyes, first thing to think about is what shade of blue eyes you have. Most articles don’t specify the different colors of blue eyes when matching eye shadow’s to eye shade.
The easiest way to figure out your color is to look at the below categories for each shade and determine what color shade you fit best with.
1. Light/grey blue eyes – Can change color depending on the color of clothes. Some days they may look grey then on other days they look blue.
2. Light blue/green eyes – If you’re wearing green they can look greener or if you wear blue they appear bluer.
3. Light pure blue eyes: this shade normally really stands out.
4. Mid Blue eyes: This is quite a distinct tone and is the color that gets away with more color matches.
5. Dark blue eyes – Sometimes this color looks as if it has a hint of purple or a hint of brown/black in them.
Let’s talk about colors that compliment every shade of blue eyes first.
Orange, Copper, Bronze and pewter are the shades you can’t go wrong with no matter what your color tone is. These colors are a great contrast and really bring the shade of blue out. Think about the secondary color chart; opposite colors are the ones that work best as they are opposites.
If you’re ready to experiment with more color read the below chart
1. Light grey blue eyes look really good with cream eye shadows. If you going to wear cream eye shadows try peach, pastel pink or a creamy brown color with just a little dab of a darker shade in the corner of the eye. These colors work really well with dark brown eyeliner and dark brown lash enhancer. If you have blonde hairs apply an eyebrow pencil to the eyebrow to sharpen your eyebrow shape. If you have darker hair adds a dark brown pencil to the brows to enhance the eyebrow shape.
2. Green/blue eyes: Mint green is a gorgeous shade for this color and turquoise is another shade that works really well. Use a dark green eye pencil and highlight with a dark black lash enhancer as this will make your color stand out and will give a lovely modern twist.
3. Light pure blue eyes: Teal’s and turquoise will really make this color pop. Stay clear of blue eye shadow unless you want to go for the vampire look. Pure blue eyes work well with long eyelashes so if daring enough gets some eyelash extension or false eyelashes as they will highlight the eyes and make them look really pretty.
4. Mid Blue Eyes: Get away with wearing more colors as they are not to piercing looking. This shade is great with gold or the Smokey effect. Use brown and copper with a hint of dark pewter to create a modern Smokey effect. Highlight the whole eyelid with dark black eyeliner and smother those lashes with lash enhancer to make the eye color stand out.
5. Dark blue eyes: This is the shade of blue that works well with violet, purple and dark pink. This color works with heavily pigmented eye shadows. Also try purple eyeliner or hint of dark green eyeliner to highlight and bring out the eye color. Darker colors of blue also go with pink cheek tint.
